Katie Belle

Katie channeling her inner "Rosie the Riveter"

What do you do for a living?
I am a full time student working to become an aviation maintenance technician. I am also a part time model.

Share something no one knows about you?
I actually don’t have secrets. I’m pretty much an open book. Although…many people think that I want to ultimately become a pilot, when in fact, I am getting my private pilots license for fun, but I don’t want to do that as a career. And I have to overcome an illness called Dysautonomia before I can become licensed.

What does #LifeThroughBVGs look/feel like for you?
Life through BVGs is fantastic! I am able to be out at shoots or on the tarmac and not have to worry about squinting and hurting my eyes. I love that BVGs is helping veterans!

What is your secret super power?
My super power is the power of imagination. It’s easy for me to get into character for a shoot, solve a maintenance problem on aircraft, or relate to children.

Most embarrassing moment?
My most embarrassing moment was when got my heal stuck in a slat in a stage and stumbled during a pageant.

What legacy would you like to leave behind in the world?
The legacy that I would love to leave this world is the legacy for embracing your true self. I want other humans to follow their goals and gifts with being concerned with stereotypes and gender roles.

What would you tell yourself if you could go back in time when you were 10?
10 years ago, I was nine. I would tell myself to do my math homework even though it was hard.

What’s your biggest life challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge is math. I have struggled with that subject always. However I’m gifted in science (which I love). Because science and math go hand in hand, it’s hard to continue in science while still struggling with math. I am blessed with a brother who happens to be a math genius so I ask for help. He has always been willing to help me and held my hand through algebra. I over came this by asking for help!

Who is your inspiration and how do they inspire you?
I’ve always been inspired by Katie Davis – a missionary who moved to Uganda and adopted a bunch of girls. She went and did things people said she couldn’t do and she did it at a very young age. She didn’t let anything stop her and she put her love of God above all else.

What are you most scared of and why?
I’m most scared of spiders. Once, I was in my bathroom and there was a spider and the lights flickered at the same time. That was worse than any horror film ever.

Katie loves challenge her inner Tony Alva too.
